How to Find Your Perfect Coat Fit (JM03 COAT)
To ensure the best fit, it's highly recommended to measure a coat that you already own and that fits you well, rather than measuring your body directly. This method accounts for the specific cut, style, and desired "ease" (room for movement and layering) of the garment. All measurements in the chart are in **Centimeters (CM)**.
What You'll Need: A coat of a similar style that fits you perfectly. A flat measuring tape (or tailor's tape). A flat surface, like a large table or the floor.
Step-by-Step Measurement Guide Lay your chosen coat flat on a surface, zip or button it up, and smooth out any wrinkles before you begin.
Chest How to Measure: Locate the seams under the armpits. Action: Measure in a straight line across the front of the coat from the seam under one armpit to the seam under the other. Important: The chart provides the measurement for *half* the chest circumference (i.e., the flat measurement across the front). You will directly compare your single flat measurement to the chart.
Waist How to Measure: Identify the narrowest part of the coat's torso, typically around the navel or slightly above. Action: Measure in a straight line across the front of the coat at this narrowest point. Important: Similar to the chest, the chart provides the flat measurement across the front. Compare your single flat measurement directly.
Back Length How to Measure: Turn the coat over so the back is facing up. Action: Measure straight down the center of the back, from the seam where the collar attaches to the main body of the coat, all the way to the bottom hem.
Shoulder Width How to Measure: Locate the seams on top of the shoulders where the sleeves are attached to the body of the coat. Action: Measure in a straight line across the back of the coat from one shoulder seam to the other.
Sleeve Length How to Measure: This measures the outer length of the sleeve. Action: Start your measurement at the top shoulder seam and measure straight down along the top of the sleeve to the very end of the cuff.
Cuff (Cuff Opening) How to Measure: Lay the sleeve flat at the cuff opening. Action: Measure straight across the opening of the cuff, from one side to the other. Important: This is the flat measurement of the cuff opening.
Bicep (Upper Arm Width) How to Measure: Lay the sleeve flat. Measure across the widest part of the upper arm area, usually about 2-3 inches below the armpit seam. Action: Measure in a straight line across the sleeve at this point. Important: This is the flat measurement of the bicep area.
How to Use the Chart 1. **Record Your Measurements:** Write down all your flat measurements for Chest, Waist, Back Length, Shoulder Width, Sleeve Length, Cuff, and Bicep. 2. **Compare to the Chart:** Find the row where your measurements most closely match. 3. **Prioritize Key Fits:** **Chest**, **Shoulder Width**, and **Sleeve Length** are generally the most critical for a good fitting coat. The other measurements are also important but might offer a bit more flexibility. 4. **If You're Between Sizes:** It's typically recommended to choose the **larger size** for outerwear. Coats are often layered over other clothing, and it's easier to make minor adjustments to a slightly larger coat than to try and make a smaller one fit.
